Economy Watchers Survey: Current Conditions DI (seasonally adjusted)

Agency:Cabinet Office ・ Latest:46.4(2026-08)・Month-on-month difference +0.70 pt ・ Year-on-year difference -0.30 pt ・ DI (50 = unchanged)

The Economy Watchers Survey is published monthly by Japan’s Cabinet Office. It asks people whose work lets them sense the economy first-hand, such as shop owners, taxi drivers and staff at restaurants and companies, whether conditions are improving. The Current Conditions DI turns their answers about the change from three months earlier into a score; a reading above 50 means more respondents said conditions improved. This page uses the seasonally adjusted series, and because the level of a DI is meaningful in itself, it is compared by year-on-year difference in points rather than percentage change.

Current state of the data

Year-on-year difference (3-month average) is -0.53 pt, compared with -2.53 pt three months earlier: decline easing.
