The Coincident Index (CI) of the Indexes of Business Conditions is published monthly by Japan’s Cabinet Office. It combines indicators that move together with the business cycle, such as industrial production, the ratio of job offers to applicants and commercial sales. With 2020 set to 100, it shows the current strength and direction of the economy. The Cabinet Office’s monthly assessment of the economy is based mainly on movements in this index. This page uses the values published by the Cabinet Office as they are, shown with moving averages and year-on-year change.
